Autumn Leaves, Winter Arrives
December has brought with it colder weather. You can definitely feel now that the seasons have changed from autumn to winter. Actually, there has even already been a little snowfall, too.
As I passed the rows of gingko trees on Hirose-dori Avenue, I thought that they looked really beautiful so I decided to take a picture. The fallen yellow leaves that lined the street gave the whole place a distinctive charm. The changing of the seasons here, as with most places in Japan, gives the city a different aspect.
This photo was taken on Jozenji-dori Avenue. The beautiful Japanese zelkova trees here are the reason that Sendai has been endowed with the grandiose nickname of the City of Trees. The yearly Sendai Pageant of Starlight will be held here, as always, from 12-31 December. During this time, 197 trees along the length of Jozenji-dori Avenue will be illuminated by 600,000 lights, creating a fantastic spectacle. In fact, workmen have already started putting the lights up. I'll post here again once the event has started. Til then!
