Welcome to the Team JAPANiCAN Staff Blog! I presided over JAPANiCAN previously but have since moved on to other areas within the JTB Group. I still visit from time to time and I hope to share with you the wonders of Japan!
I was raised in Tokyo but mainly worked and lived for about 20 years in Aomori, Sendai & Fukushima. I really recommend visiting this region, called Tohoku, and especially the warming hospitality of its people!
During my freetime, I like watching sumo wrestling, kabuki theater, and watching performances by the famous Takarazuka troupe. Perhaps my greatest passion is reading, books of every genre imaginable. I can't help shopping on Amazon all the time, and recently there are books everywhere at my home! Another passion of mine is to travel by train all around Japan.
I think that one amazing and unique fact about Japan is that you can enjoy almost any type of climate or scenery all within the same country. For example, in March although you have beaches opening in Okinawa in the south, drift ice still can be seen at the same time in the northeastern part of Hokkaido! Japan is a country full of diverse scenery, climate and hospitality. That is JAPANiCAN's goal, to introduce Japan to the world!
